Mr. Joe R. Hendrix, age 82 of Paris passed away Saturday, December 16, 2017 at his residence. His body is to be cremated and his memorial service will be at 11:00AM Friday, December 22, 2017 at McEvoy Funeral Home with Bro. Marty Arnold officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00PM Thursday, December 21, 2017 and after 9:00AM Friday.
Joe R. Hendrix was born November 25, 1935 in Springville, TN to the late Closson E. "Shorty" Hendrix and the late Lula Mae Wilson Hendrix. On September 21, 1957 he married Jettie McClure Hendrix and she survives in Paris, TN. He is also survived by two daughters: Anita (Russell) Rogers and Renae (Bryant) Peale, all of Paris; three sons: Chris (Brenda) Hendrix of Puryear, TN; Randy (Cheryl) Hendrix of Paris; and Paul (Amanda) Hendrix of Paris; one sister, Mary Hendrix (Larry Phillips) of Paris; eleven grandchildren: Michael (Jaime) Hendrix, Amanda (Alan) Paschall, Bridget Hendrix, Mark Hendrix, Julia Hendrix, Emily Hendrix, Morgan (Justin) Bruce, Madison (David) Barnhill, Adam Rogers, Andrew Peale, and Levi Peale; five great grandchildren: Sophie Hendrix, Beth Hendrix, Allie Paschall, Addie Paschall, and A.J. Paschall; and special friends: Matt Goetz, Mark "Bama" Boutwell, Jeff Seaton, and Dale Hastings.
Besides his parents, Mr. Hendrix was also preceded in death by a brother, Jimmie Hendrix in 1945 at the age of seven.
Mr. Hendrix was a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and attended Johnson Chapel United Methodist Church. He retired from the Tennessee division of Forestry Department and he enjoyed playing golf. He wrote "Thoughts For Today" for the Paris Post Intelligencer and he has written a book titled "The Age of Christianity and Conservatism".
