Ms. Joe Ellar Hooks, age 81 of Paris, Tn passed away Saturday, September 3, 2016 at Henry County Healthcare Center. Her body is to be cremated and a memorial service will be held at 1:00PM Monday, December 5, 2016 at McEvoy Funeral Home. Kenneth Humphreys of Cedar Hill Baptist Church in Puryear will officiate. Ms. Hooks was born on June 10, 1935 to the late Amos Armstrong and Esther Lee Jones Kendall. She is survived by sisters: Christine A. Tharpe of Paris, TN, and Bennie Faye Rogers of Oak Park, IL; brothers: George E. (Michelle) Armstrong of Springville, TN, John A. (Deborah) Armstrong of Hazel, KY, and R.L. Armstrong of Oak Park, IL. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her step-father, Leslie "Jack" Kendall; sisters: Mary L. Smith, Carrie Mae Bass, Dorothy Hicks, and Ethel Mae Hudson; brothers: Calup Armstrong, Jr. and Frank Kendall, Jr. Ms. Hooks was a Methodist by faith. She enjoyed meeting new people and never met a stranger. Joe Ellar was an animal lover who enjoyed her pets and loved working jigsaw puzzles. SERVICES
