John Michael "Mike" Barnett, age 76, of Paris, Tennessee passed away on Friday, November 22, 2024 at his residence. His funeral service will be 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, November 27, 2024 at McEvoy Funeral Home with Pastor Joy Weathersbee of First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow the service in Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery. Named as pallbearers are, Tony Bowers, Ron Watkins, Eddie Reagor, Greg Tucker, Rusty Sykes, Eugene Gafford, and Tyler Cox. With honorary pallbearers, Mark Herbison, Shawn Gafford, and Art Sinclair. Visitation is scheduled at McEvoy on Tuesday, November 26th from 4:00 until 7:00 P.M. and again on Wednesday, after 9:00 A.M. until time of service. John Michael Barnett was born May 4, 1948 in Paris, TN to the late John W. Barnett and the late Opal Jackson Barnett. He married Vicki Harrington Barnett on February 28, 1992 and she survives in Paris. Mike is also survived by his son Chris Barnett and his fiance Meagan Scott of Paris; grandchildren, Carson Michael Barnett and Zailey Ambrose; sister, Pam French and husband Lanny of Murray, Ky; brothers, Barry Barnett and wife Lee Anne of Camden and Brad Barnett of Paris; and by other family members and numerous special friends. Besides his parents, Mike is also preceded in death by his sister, Paula Lane Barnett (prec. 2018). Mr. Barnett was a U.S. Navy Veteran who was an avid duck hunter and golfer. Mike was a Tennessee Vols fan who truly loved his family. He was also blessed with a bonus family of very dear friends that he adored as well. Mike will be missed by all who knew him.
