John Porter Chilcutt, age 87 of Paris, passed away Friday, June 11, 2021 at his residence. His funeral will be Sunday, June 13, 2021 at 2:00 PM at McEvoy Funeral Home with Elder Ray Churchwell of Pleasant Grove Primitive Baptist Church and Elder Ed Long of Union Primitive Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be after 12:00 PM Sunday prior to the service at McEvoy Funeral Home. John Porter Chilcutt was born March 4, 1934 in Henry County, Tennessee to the late Andrew Jobe Chilcutt and the late Ruth Lee Rowlett Chilcutt. On May 29, 1955 he married Dorris Hamlin Chilcutt and she survives in Paris, Tennessee. John was the owner/operator of Gilbert's Slaughter House and his work was a big part of his life. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Primitive Baptist Church and he loved spending time outdoors with his horses and with his family. In addition to his wife, John is also survived by two sons: Steve Chilcutt and Stan Chilcutt (Kesha Murphy) all of Paris, TN; two grandchildren: Kristen (Luke) Cuthbertson of Paris, TN and Kaylie (Billy) Williamson of Florence, AL; and great grandchildren, Sophie Cuthbertson and John Adam Cuthbertson due July 26, 2021. Besides his parents, John was also preceded in death by a sister, Mildred Martin.
