John W. Holcomb age 75 of Cottage Grove, Tennessee passed away on Wednesday October 4, 2017 at his residence. His funeral service will be held Sunday October 8, 2017 2:00 P.M. at McEvoy Funeral Home with Bro. David Alan Jackson conducting. Burial will follow at Walker Cemetery. Family members will serve as pallbearers. Visitation for Mr. Holcomb will be held on Sunday after 12:00 noon until service time. John was born January 22, 1942 in Saybrook, Ohio to the late Elmer F. Holcomb and Rilla E. Hill Holcomb. He married Sandy Pinkston Holcomb who survives in Cottage Grove on September 29, 1977. John is survived by his daughter: Annette Kemnitz Holcomb of Arizona; grandchildren: Anthony, Nicholas, and Jay Kemnitz; sisters in law: Audie (Mark, Sr.) Melloy of Murray, KY and Amanda Hoofman of Paris, TN; brothers in law: Richard (Courtney) Pinkston of Puryear, TN, Ben Pinkston of Illinois and Alan Pinkston of Paducah, KY; aunt and uncle: Dan and Kathy Vaughn, Jackson, TN; nieces and nephews: Loren (Amanda) Bechard, Regina (Clint) Graff, Charles (Veronica) Bechard, Sandra (Kevin) O'Dell, Joseph (Hannah) Jackman, Mark Melloy, II; also survived by numerous great nieces and nephews and many special friends. John is also preceded in death by his sister: Melinda Thatcher. John was a Christian by faith and served in the U.S. Marine Corp. He was a black belt in Karate who loved to roller skate, play pool, throw darts and bowl. John worked and retired as an accountant for the city of San Jose, CA, he was also a former councilman for the city of Cottage Grove.
