June "Carol" (Scoby) Phelps, age 79 of Canton, GA, passed away on Tuesday, February 18, 2020. A native of Paris, TN, she was a graduate of E.W.Grove HS, class of 1959. Carol was a beloved Mother, Sister, Best Friend, Aunt and Grandmother to her fur babies. Carol loved her family, her friends, her pets and The Lord. Carol loved her Tennessee Volunteers and rarely missed a football game.
Carol had the voice of an Angel; she loved to sing and was a member of several church choirs where she was a featured soloist on several Gospel albums. Her laugh was infectious; once she got started there was no stopping it. Carol had the gift to be able to bring a smile to your face despite what you were going through. She gave the best hugs and snuggles.
Carol taught Sunday School and was a member of The Ladies Oriental Shrine in Cleveland, TN, The Tennessee Baptist Convention Secretaries Association in Nashville, TN. She worked for The Tennessee Baptist Convention and The Baptist Sunday School Board in Nashville, TN. St. Josephs Hospital of Atlanta and Atlanta Radiology Imaging Center where she retired after 20 years of service in 2011.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Mother, Ella Mae Scoby (Pierce), her Father, William "Bill" Scoby of Paris TN. Her Husband, Paul Reagan Phelps of Lenoir City, TN d.1990, Dr. John P. Bohanan of Canton, GA d.2019 and her Brother, Jerry Ashley Scoby of Lebanon, TN d.1995.

Niece-Kimberly (Scott) Howard of Mt. Juliet, TN
Great nieces, Ashley and Courtney Scoby
Graveside services will be held at Paris Memorial Cemetery in Paris, TN on February 29th at 2 p.m., Dr. John Smith of Fairview Baptist Church will be officiating. She will be laid to rest with her parents; arrangements are being handled by McEvoy Funeral Home in Paris, TN.
