LaVerne Marie Smith, age 84, Puryear, TN, died June 22, 2009 at Henry County Healthcare Center in Paris. A graveside service will be held at 2:30 PM Thursday at New Liberty Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:30 - 2:00 PM Thursday at McEvoy Funeral Home. She is survived by her husband, Wayne M. Smith, they were married in May, 1965. She is also survived by daughter, Sandra Lee Stewart, Buchanan, TN and five step daughters; son, Lester (Cindy) Lockridge, Spring Valley, IL, and three step sons. Son-In-Law, Earl Stewart, preceded June 28, 2004; survived by two sisters, two brothers, four grandchildren, twenty three step-grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and thirty three step-great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.
