Lennie Jane (Rogers) Higgins, 82, left her earthly home on May 27, 2026, at Ashley Square Assisted Living Facility in Greenwood, South Carolina, where she had resided since August 2022.
She was born on April 19, 1944, in Springville, Tennessee, to the late Loren Holly Rogers and Relma Lavergne (Hooper) Rogers.
Lennie retired from Clarksville’s Memorial Hospital in 1999. She began her lengthy career in laundry services and ended as the Operating Room Scheduler. Outside of work, she had a passion for spending time with friends and family, reading, traveling, and baking. She was of the Christian faith and a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church in Clarksville, TN.
She is survived by her children, Sheila Earhart, Indian Mound, TN; Joy (Bill) Edwards, Greenwood, SC, and Waylon (Michelle) Vinson, Indianapolis, IN; sister Roberta Hill, Paris, TN; 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and a large extended bonus family she gained through the marriage to her late husband, Lee J Higgins.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is also preceded in death by a daughter, Annette Clary Woodward, and a sister, Betty Jo Woolam
Visitation with the family is planned on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, from 4 pm – 7 pm at McEvoy Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, June 4, 2026, at 11 am in Poplar Grove Cemetery in Springville, TN.
The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to the teams of TN Quality Home Health Services in Clarksville, TN, Ashley Square Assisted Living Facility, and Caris Hospice, both in Greenwood, SC, for their compassionate care and support to Lennie and her children.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Lennie’s memory to the church or charity of your choosing.
