Funeral service for former Tennessee Highway Patrol Lieutenant Wayne Tubbs will be held on Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at McEvoy Funeral Home, 10:00 A.M. Officiating will be Roger Banks, Gary S. Collier and Larry Simmons, with burial will follow in the Farmville Cemetery of Henderson County. Pallbearers are Michael Wayne Stigall, Robert Rookie Edwards, Dennis Campbell, Howell Wayne Todd, Mike Shankle, J.A. Cowell, Trevor Huie. Honorary Pallbearers are Faye Kesterson, Robert Earl Melton, Kerry & Susan Bell, Gordon Ray McFadden, Billy and June Murphy, Drew Stigall, Zachary Ayers and the Mens Bible Class at First Baptist Church. Visitation is scheduled on Monday from 4:00 until 8:00 P.M. and after 9:00 A.M. on Tuesday. Wayne was the son of the late Donnie M. Tubbs and Lula Morris Tubbs. He married Sue Hargrove Tubbs on Jan. 17, 1948 and she preceded him on Nov. 8, 1992. He is also preceded by sister Estelle Todd and brothers Hollis Tubbs and Raymond Tubbs. Daughters, Brenda, Deborah and Sheree survive as well as grandchildren, Andrea (Danny) Tucker, Trevor Huie, Michael Stigall and Melody Stigall; Great grandchildren, Zachary Ayers, Rachel Ayers, Drew Stigall and Connor Huie. Wayne is also survived by two nephews and one niece. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Paris, TN; an Army Veteran of WWII, serving in Japan and the Pacific. In 1951 he began his 30 year career with the Tennessee Highway Patrol and retired as Lieutenant in 1981. He then was employed in security with H.C. Spinks Clay Co. and retired in 2001.
