Marie Charles, age 93 of Buchanan, passed away Monday, July 5, 2021 at Henry County Healthcare Center. Her funeral service will be 11:00 AM Friday, July 9, 2021 at McEvoy Funeral Home with Bro. Randy Stephens officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00 PM Thursday, July 8, 2021 and after 9:00 AM Friday at McEvoy Funeral Home prior to the service. Marie Charles was born February 15, 1928 in Hazard, Kentucky to the late Thomas Fugate and the late Ellen Fitzpatrick Fugate. On January 5, 1945 she married Paul J. Charles and he preceded her in death on October 22, 1982. Marie was a loving sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to all. She enjoyed family, gardening, Chihuahuas, watching all her birds and other wildlife on her property. She was loving and caring to all even in her times of need and pain. Her beautiful smile, warmth and wisdom will be missed by all. She is survived by three sons: Paul (Janice) Charles, Dennis Charles and Harold (Deborah) Charles, all of Buchanan, TN; eight grandchildren: Kelley (Leo) Chavez, Gina Cid, Carrie (Todd) Birky, Sean (Iryna) Charles, Nikkie (Bill) Charles, Joseph (Jennifer) Charles, Stacy Wood and Alan Kieres; seventeen great grandchildren; one sister, Polly Riddle of Avilla, IN; and one brother, Thomas Fugate of Lake Zurich, IL. Besides her parents and husband, Marie was also preceded in death by a daughter, Joyce Rainwater; a grandson, Gene Noble; three sisters: Mabel LaBrant, Cleo Vester and Rebecca McCarty; and four brothers: Arvil Fugate, John Elliott Fugate, Ardith Fugate and Paul Dean Fugate.
