Mrs. Marjorie Ruth Gateley Jones of Paris, TN passed away at the age of 88, Friday, June 24, 2016. Her funeral service will be held 11:00 AM, Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at McEvoy Funeral Home. Visitation will be held at McEvoy Funeral Home 4:00-7:00 PM Monday; after 9:00 AM Tuesday. Gary S. Collier of First United Methodist Church will officiate, burial will follow in Palestine Cemetery. Pallbearers are named as; Leland Jones, Nick Jones, Justin Hoffman, Reggie Lyell, Rick Lyell, Alex Bomar, Leslie Sykes, Brent Owens.
Mrs. Jones was born February 2, 1928 in Henry County, TN to the late Joseph Monroe Gateley, Sr. and May Nye Boothe Gateley. She is preceded by her husband Carpenter Edward Jones,October 30, 2008, they were married February 8, 1945.
She is survived by daughters; Linda Ruth (Leslie) Sykes, Buchanan, TN, Kathy Elaine (Gary) Collier, Paris, TN; daughter-in-law; Marti Beseda Jones, Paris, TN; sister; Dianne Lyell Guinn, Paris, TN; granchildren; Leland Edward (Amy) Jones, Paris, TN; Laura Raelyn Kenworthy (fianc Brent Owens) Paris, TN; Nicholas Edward (Megan) Jones, Arlington, TN; Justin Hoffman, Bartlett, TN; great-grandchildren; Amanda Morgan Jones, Taryn Kincaid Jones, Winifred Celia Jones, Wyatt Edward Jones, Theodore John Theo Kenworthy, Jr., Savannah Reese Jones and Heidi Lynn Owens; niece; Mikel Schmauch, Salt Lake City, UT; Nephews; Reggie (Gena) Lyell, Corydon, IN; Rick Lyell (Felicia Lewis) Paris, TN; Tommy Mitchell, Salt Lake City, UT; great niece; Katie Lyell & Farrah Lewis; great nephew; Colin Lyell.
Mrs. Jones is preceded by son; Joseph Edward Eddy Jones, January 2, 2009; sister; Katherine Mitchell; brothers; Joseph M. Gateley & James Daniel Jimmy Gateley.
Mrs. Jones was a graduate of Springville High School and completed business courses at Bethel College. She was a life long member of the former R.L.D.S. Church serving as church secretary and the Paris Community of Christ. She retired as Receptionist/Switch Board Operator at the former Emerson Electric Company, and also worked at Tecumseh Products and Clippard Plant formerly of Paris. She and her husband operated a dairy and farm which she managed until December 2015.
