Mrs. Marjorie Simpson LaFon, age 97, of Cottage Grove, Tennessee passed away Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at her residence. Her funeral service will be 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, April 30, 2022 at McEvoy Funeral Home with Bro. Mike Waddey, former pastor of Cottage Grove Baptist Church to officiate. Burial will follow the service in Walker Cemetery. Named as pallbearers are Daniel Powell, Howard Powell, David Powell, Josh Warbritton, Troy Bruce and Mike Hutson with honorary pallbearers, Ray Harding and Mack Shell. Visitation is scheduled at McEvoy on Saturday after 11:00 A.M. until time of service at 1:00 P.M. Marjorie Ann Simpson LaFon was born August 10, 1924 in Henry County, Tennessee to the late Laverne Simpson and the late Grace Shell Simpson. She married James R. LaFon on September 12, 1942 and he preceded her in death in 2000. Marjorie is survived by her daughter, Diane Owens of Paris; son, Steven LaFon and wife Tammy of McKenzie; grandchildren, Wanda Gardner, Angela Owens, Anna Parker, Jamie Conger and Jennifer Johnson; also survived by grandchildren and other family members. Besides her parents and husband, Marjorie is also preceded in death by her son, Michael LaFon who passed away in 2003. Mrs. LaFon formerly worked as a teacher's aide at Cottage Grove School. She was a faithful and active member of Cottage Grove Baptist Church for many years. Marjorie enjoyed sewing, reading and flower gardening.
