Mrs. Martha Frey Jelks, age 92, of Paris, TN, died Sunday, February 13, 2011 at her residence. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday at First Baptist Church of Paris, TN, Dr. Trent Bullock and Rev. Carroll Owen will officiate. Burial will follow in Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday evening at McEvoy Funeral Home from 4-7 p.m. and after 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the church. Grandsons Dr. James Roy Appleton, III, Robert Louis Moore, Michael Moore, Trebor Jelks, William Jelks, Andrew Jelks, Ben Jelks, Trey Teel and Mathew Teel will serve as Pallbearers. Chuck Frey and Joe Frey will serve as Honorary Pallbearers. Mrs. Jelks was married to Robert M. Bobby Jelks on May 7, 1939. He preceded her in death on February 16, 2006. Mrs. Jelks is survived by daughters; Barbara (Larry) Moore, Memphis, TN, Beverly (Roy) Appleton, Jackson, TN, Jennifer (Jerome) Teel, Jackson, TN, sons; Bobby (Sylvia) Jelks, Jackson, TN, Bill (Debbie) Jelks, Paris, TN, brother; Charles (Peggy) Frey, Schertz, TX,. She is also survived by fourteen grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and special caregivers; Linda Gross, Mickey Pewitt and Richar Summers. She is preceded in death by parents; Henry Wallace and Myrtle Leota Moore Frey, daughter; Cynthia Kay Jelks, brothers; Robert, James Howard and Wallace Frey Jr. Mrs. Jelks was a homemaker. She was an active member of First Baptist Church, the WMU and the Fidelis Sunday School Class. Martha played basketball at her Coopertown School. She attended Union University, Jackson, TN, where she was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha for 75 years. Martha was a school volunteer and active member of PTA for over 40 years at Akins Porter, Grove and Henry County High School. She was a member of the Henry County Hospitals Ladies Auxiliary.
