Mary Elizabeth Pennington Hughes, age 84 of Paris, TN passed away Friday December 11, 2015 at Eiffel Gardens Assisted Living of Paris. Funeral service 12:00PM Tuesday December 15, 2015 at McEvoy Funeral Home with Bro. Bobby Sanders of Springville Baptist Church officiating burial will follow at Poplar Grove Cemetery. Visitation 10:00AM until service time Tuesday. She was born in Fayette County, TN to the late Charlie Leander and Pearlie German Pennington. On February 8, 1947 she married Arthur Dewey "Bud" Hughes, he preceded March 30, 1990. Survived by her daughter-in-law: Barbara Sorrell Hughes, Springville, TN; grandchildren: Melony Jean (Kevin) Jones, Melinda Jan Metzinger; great-grandchildren: Jasmine Noel Jones, Nicholas Wayne Metzinger, Jonathan Wesley Metzinger, Scarlett Olivia Metziner; special nieces: Diane Renae Brewer, Melisa Dawn McGuire; great nephew: Charles Hunter Medlock; great niece: Lauren Lee Pruitt. Preceded by a son: John Howard Hughes; sisters: Tressie Grammer, Velma Scherer, Margaret Nicolosi; brothers: Bethel Pennington, James Pennington, William Pennington, John Pennington, Charles Pennington and Sterling Pennington. Mrs. Hughes was a member of Springville Baptist Church. She was employed with Kesterson's formerly of Paris. Mary retired from the meat wrapping industry in Memphis and moved to Springville in 1977.
