Funeral service Thursday 10:00AM at McEvoy Funeral Home with Bro. Randy Stephens of the Sulphur Well Church of Christ officiating, entombment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery. Named as pallbearers are Chuck Duncan, Norman Allen, Samuel Carter, Raymond Carter and Allen White. Visitation 4:00 - 7:00PM Wednesday and after 9:00AM Thursday. She was born in Leslie County, KY to the late Clarence and Zella Pennington Jones. On June 25, 1955 she married Robert Stanley Sloan, he preceded July 9, 1996. Survived by daughters: Sabrina Lea Scribner, Vista, CA, Bobbi Jean (Chuck) Duncan, Lyman, SC, Rhonda Carol (Norman) Allen, Clarksville, TN; sisters: Hazel Carter, Springville, TN, Bernice (Henry) White, Paris, TN; half-brother: Wendell Hoskins, Jamestown, OH; grandchildren: Jason, Jeremy and Samantha Scribner; sister-in-law: Dora Jones; nieces and nephews: Novalee Green, Samuel Carter, Raymond Carter, Allen White, Debbie Jones, Terry Jones, Phyllis Lawrence, Tim Jones, Melissa Stephens; honorary great nieces and nephew: Aspen, Aden and Avery Scott. Preceded by two brothers: Alva Lee Jones, Calvin Earl Jones and a half-brother: J.C. Hoskins. Mrs. Sloan enjoyed fishing and raising her family when she and Bob first moved to Tennessee from Indianapolis, Indiana. They built their home on Sloan road in the Antioch area of Henry County and Bob was a fishing guide for many years. She was also a Licensed Practical Nurse and worked at Henry County Hospital. After retiring, they enjoyed traveling until his death in 1996. In later years, she moved closer to Paris and loved working jigsaw puzzles, crocheting, reading and sewing. She has been a member of Sulphur Well Church of Christ since moving to Henry County and actively participated in their sewing circle. Family and friends will sadly miss her.
