Mary Ruth Throgmorton, age 86 of Paris, TN died Friday, March 18, 2011 at Paris Health Care Center. Her funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Monday, March 21, 2011 at McEvoy Funeral Home by Dr. Robert D. Martin, Pastor of First United Methodist Church and Dr. Gary S. Collier. Burial will follow in Bethesda Cemetery in Henry County, TN. Visitation for Mary Ruth will be from 12:30 PM until service time at 2:00 PM on Monday.
Mary Ruth Gyssels was married at the Martha Mary Chapel in Greenfield Village, MI on October 25, 1941 to Robert Edward (Buddy) Throgmorton, who was born and raised in Paris, TN. He preceded her in death on January 28, 1998.
Mrs. Throgmorton is survived by daughter; Suzanne Michele (John) Dowdie of Plano, TX, granchildren; Robert Thomas (Sharon) Throgmorton of Georgia, Amy Elizabeth (Steven) Iverson of Florida, David Throgmorton of Florida, five great grandchildren, one great great granddaughter and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She also leaves behind special care givers Jennifer Stevens, Sharon Sabin and the staff at Eiffel Gardens
including Peggy Johnson, Mia Stephenson and Heather Bush.
Mrs. Throgmorton was preceded in death by her parents; Camille Francois Gyssels and Ruth Irene Spindler Gyssels Cranmer, son; Rev. Robert William Throgmorton, brother; Camille Francois Gyssels, Jr.
Mary Ruth Throgmorton was a homemaker, formerly living in Dearborn Heights, MI and Atlanta GA. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Paris, TN, past president of the Lake Drive Garden Club and past president of the Detroit and Atlanta Antique Doll and Toy Clubs. In her late 70's she began painting. Her needle pointing and watercolor artwork won many blue ribbons at Henry County Fairs.
