Matt King, age 60, of Cottage Grove, Tennessee, passed away Tuesday, June 29, 2021, at his residence. His body was cremated and a celebration of life for him and his wife Karen will be at 3:00 PM Saturday, November 13, 2021, at Cottage Grove Baptist Church, 6860 Church St., Cottage Grove, TN 38224 with Michael Barnhart officiating. Matt King was born November 1, 1960, in Pierce County, Washington to the late Bernard "Bernie" King and Patricia Ann (Philip) Grooms both also preceded. He married Karen King on July 21, 1984, and she preceded him in death on November 27, 2020. Matt is survived by his daughter, Amanda King of Puryear; step-son, Bobby (Shannon) Casey of Cottage Grove; sister, Laura (Jimmy) Denham of Lexington, Tennessee; sisters-in-law, Delores (Wildman) Starnes of Cottage Grove, Pennie Casey of Waynesboro, Tennessee; and six grandchildren. Besides his parents and wife, Matt is also preceded by a step-sister, Charline Casey. Mr. King was a 1977 graduate of Henry County High School. He joined the Tennessee Army National Guard and served for eight years, doing his basic training at Fort Jacks, South Carolina. Matt worked at Tennessee Tractor of Paris and also loved riding his Harley.
