Max Gerald George, 87, passed away peacefully on September 21, 2025, in Manassas, Virginia. He was born on August 8, 1938, in Paris, Tennessee, to the late Robert Peyton & Ruby Mae George.

In 1969, he married the love of his life, Lenore Jean Metcalfe. They shared 56 years of a beautiful marriage. A devoted family man, Max raised two children, Carol and Keith, to love God and to love others. His three granddaughters, Katelyn Cole (Dexter Cole), Rebecca Dodson (Austin Dodson), and Alyssa Helmick, along with his three great-grandchildren, Kallie, Brixtin, and Emersyn, were his greatest joy.

Max proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1956 to 1960. He also had a successful carpet/floor cleaning company for almost 60 years before retiring.

Max was a long-dedicated member of the Manassas Church of the Nazarene, where he served in many roles. He was preceded in death by his brothers, John Thomas George and Robert Harold George, and two sisters, Juanita George and Rebecca Lowery. He is survived by his beloved wife, Lenore Jean George; his daughter, Carol Lynn Helmick (Tim); his son, Robert Keith George; his sister, Martha Carol George of Paris, Tennessee; his sister-in-law, Betty Hart George; his three granddaughters; and three great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly.

Max's unwavering faith gave his family comfort, knowing that through his salvation of accepting Jesus Christ as his Savior, he's in Heaven. His love for his family, serving others through his business, and his steadfast belief in Jesus Christ were the cornerstones of his life.

His graveside service is scheduled at Shady Grove Baptist Church Cemetery on Thursday, October 2, 2025 at 10:00 A.M. conducted by Dr. Trent Bullock of First Baptist Church with burial to follow.
