Funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at McEvoy Funeral Home with Pastor Joyce McNeal officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Cemetery in Paris. Visitation is scheduled after 9:00 A.M. on Tuesday prior to service time.
Mr. Ater is survived by his daughter: Lora Ater Blanchard of Ohio; three sisters: Louella Turberville, Karen Neiberline and Joy Poole, all of Ohio; two brothers: Ben and Floyd Ater, both of Ohio; a grandson: John Blanchard of Ohio and special friend: Laura Brown of Paris, TN.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Clarence and Ora Burlile Ater; his wife: Lillian Johnson Ater; four sisters: Mary Katherine Stoker, Pauline Ater, Annalee Blazer, and Patricia Ater; two brothers: James and Henry Ater.
Mr. Ater served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Army Reserve from 1957 until 1963. He formerly worked as a mechanic at Pages's Mobil Service Station and also worked for Yellow Cab Company, both formerly of Paris. Jack attended Old Landmark Church in Paris.
