Meta Adams Knight

Meta Adams Knight, age 84, died Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at St. Thomas Hospital, Nashville, TN. Her funeral will be conducted at 2:00 PM Saturday, August 28th at McEvoy Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Bethel Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 - 8:00 PM Friday and after 12:00 on Saturday until service. She was the daughter of Rufus and Maggie Lax Adams, both preceded. She was married to Barney Knight in 1967 and he survives. She is survived by step-daughter, Judy (Scott) Bierlein, Okemus, MI, her daughter, Dianna Eastwood preceded in infancy. She is survived by sons, James "Jim" (Tina) Eastwood, Puryear, TN, Kennie (Eva) Eastwood, Omaha, NE, step-sons, Barney "Conroy" (Linda) Knight, Granite City, IL, Troy Odell (Katherine) Knight, Atlanta, GA, Gene Allen (Nancy) Knight, Slidell, LA. She is survived by sister, Cynthella (Jimmy Joe) Stewart, Brighton, TN, sisters-in-law, Mary Jane Adams, Puryear, TN and Delma Adams, Brownsville, TN. She was preceded by sister, Annetta Valentine. She is survived by brother, Winston S. (Joan) Adams, Murray, KY and brother-in-law, Kenneth Valentine, Paris, TN. She was preceded by brothers, Harry (Kate) Adams, Wayne (Sarah) Adams, Desmond Adams and Keith Adams. She has eleven grandchildren, a number of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, a number of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. She was a member of Buchanan United Methodist Church, a graduate of Puryear High School in 1942, and was retired from the US Post Office in St. Louis as a Clerical Supervisor.
