Mildred Taylor Harris, age 92 of Memphis, formerly of Paris, passed away Sunday, August 14, 2016 at Mid-south Health & Rehabilitation in Memphis. Her funeral service will be Saturday, August 20, 2016 at 1:00 PM at McEvoy Funeral Home with visitation begining at 11:30 AM Saturday morning prior to the service. Burial will follow in New Beaver Dam Cemetery in Buchanan, TN. Friends and Family will serve as pallbearers and Bro. Steve Gallimore of TVCC in Paris will be officiating. Mildred Harris was born December 16, 1923 in Henry County, Tennessee to the late Prince E. Taylor and the late Hazel Sparks Taylor. On March 14, 1942 she married Voyle C. Harris and he preceded her in death on February 11, 1999. Mrs. Harris is survived by two daughters, Donna Lynn Harris and Hope Harris Gross both of Memphis, TN; one son, Rulon T. (Kere) Harris of Memphis, TN; eight grandchildren, Rikki Carroll, David Robison, Erin Keltner, Zachary Ashley, Joshua Ashley, Jacqueline Dingle, Rick Harris, and Drew Gross; six great-grandchildren; and niece Linda Herring Barrett of Louisville, KY. Besides her parents and husband, she is also preceded in death by one son, Voyle C. Harris, Jr., and one sister, Carleen Herring. Mrs. Harris was a graduate of E.W. Grove High School. She was a lifetime member and former president of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Mildred loved to play the piano, was a former employee of the Paris cotton gin and also worked for the Civil Service.
