Mrs. Charlie J. Underwood

Mrs. Charlie J. Underwood, age 98, of Paris, passed away Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at Spring Meadows Health & Rehabilitation in Clarksville, TN. Her services will be at McEvoy Funeral Home; however, the date and time have not been set.

Charlie Underwood was born July 1, 1928, in Paris, TN, to the late Wade and Fannie Wood Jackson. On March 20, 1948, she married James E. Underwood, and he preceded her in death on September 27, 1996.

Mrs. Underwood was a very active member of the First United Methodist Church in Paris. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society and the Bridge Club.

Mrs. Underwood is survived by her daughter, Traci (Mark) Mattingly of Clarksville, TN; her sons: Doug Underwood of Paris, TN, and Hugh (Amy) Underwood of North Richland Hills, TX; grandchildren: Alyssa Meersma, Katie (Aaron) Taylor, and David (Caitlyn) Mattingly; great-grandchildren: James, Daniel, Charlie, Wyatt, and Jack; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Besides her parents and husband, Mrs. Underwood was also preceded in death by sisters Jo Ann Jackson and Sue Rainey.
