Nancy Reeves Thornton, age 83 of Cary, NC died Tuesday, August 30, 2022, at Transitions Life Care in Raleigh, NC. Born March 16, 1939, in Covington, KY to the late Hatton and Christine Reeves, she was married on September 6, 1957 , to David Harold Thornton who survives. She is survived by one son, Michael (Saundra) Thornton of Spring Hill, TN; two daughters, Jennifer (Ken) Lowry and Karen (Robert) Moore, all of Cary, four granddaughters - Meredith (Jay) Brocklebank of Spring Hill, TN; Ashley (Jordan) Carrera of Cary, NC; Andrea (Drew) Longinotti of Thompsons Station, TN; Allison (Jay) Twiford of New Hill, NC; two granddaughters of the heart, Abigail Miles of Ft. Worth, TX; Brittany Miles of Rock Hill, SC; eight great-grandchildren - Ty, Charli, Emmalynn and Lily Jo Brocklebank of Spring Hill, TN; Brooklyn Carrera of Cary, NC; Elias Longinotti of Thompsons Station, TN; Austin and Cameron Twiford of New Hill, NC and a number of beloved nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Hatton Reeves, Jr. and William Reeves. A 1957 graduate of Holmes High School in Covington, KY, Nancy attended the University of Kentucky where she worked as secretary to the university vice-president. Nancy was a longtime active member of the Cary Church of Christ, where she taught ladies and children's classes for many years. She was a talented seamstress, cook and enjoyed reading and travel. Nancy loved plants, flowers, bells, cardinals, and lighthouses. She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. After moving to Cary in the early 1960's, she was active in civic groups, community events and with the Cary High School Band Parents. Nancy was an avid NC State sports fan and she loved college basketball. A celebration of life service with Larry Fife officiating, will be held at 12:00 pm, Saturday, October 15, 2022, at the Cary Church of Christ, 6640 Tryon Rd. Cary, NC 27518, with burial at Hillcrest Cemetery at a later date. Visitation with the family will be at the Cary Church of Christ on Friday, October 14, 2022, from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm and on Saturday, October 15, 2022 from 11:00 am until the time of service. Visitation is scheduled at the church from 4:00 until 7:00 pm on Friday, Oct. 14, 2022 and again on Saturday Oct. 15, 2022 after 11:00 am until time of service.
