Graveside service 11:00 AM Thursday at Maplewood Cemetery with Rev. Mark Weldon officiating. He was born in Bowling Green, KY to the late Levi and Ella Schmittou. On February 14, 1947 he married Carnell Hill Schmittou, she survives. Survived by daughters: Phyllis Loggins of Vincent, Jennifer Weldon of Hoover; grandchildren: Alexandria Caroline Nelson of Vestavia and Ryan Smith Weldon of Charleston, SC; great-grandchild: Emma Caroline Nelson of Vestavia. Preceded by a sister: Imogene Schmittou. Mr. Schmittou had attended Rocky Ridge Cumberland Presbyterian Church for the past 60 years. He retired from his independent sales company about 40 years ago and has spent several of those years traveling with the Wally Bynum Air Stream Club. A veteran of WWII, where he served as staff sergeant of the 1857th Service Command Unit.
