Otis L. Burk, age 88 of Puryear, TN passed away Wednesday, February 23, 2022, at his residence. His funeral service will be Sunday, February 27, 2022, at 2:00 PM at McEvoy Funeral Home with Dwayne Chadwick of Puryear Baptist Church and Mike Rhodes, interim pastor at Oak Grove Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Walker Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 PM Saturday, February 26, 2022, and after 12:00 PM Sunday at McEvoy Funeral Home. Otis L. Burk was born December 7, 1933, in Oneida, TN to the late James Henry Burk and the late Sally Terry Burk. On February 25, 1956, he married Janice Fuqua Burk and she survives in Puryear, TN. Otis worked at Celotex until it closed, and he owned and operated Burk's Microscope Sales & Service, which enabled him to travel to different states to schools and colleges selling and repairing microscopes. He was a member of Puryear Baptist Church. He loved the outdoors, gardening, hunting, fishing, and most of all his family. In addition to his wife, Otis is also survived by three daughters: Debbie (Tim) Brannon of Puryear, TN, Myra (Glynn) Gallimore of Puryear, TN, and Stephanie (Johnny) Alexander of Lascassas, TN; one son, Henry (Ellen) Burk of Almo, KY; eight grandchildren: Natalie (Joey) Boyd, Kelly (Cody) Bumpus, Phillip (Lindsey) Gallimore, Amanda (Derek) Bell, Christy (Jack) Stanulis, Nathan Burk, Adam Burk, and Matthew Burk; thirteen great-grandchildren: Luke Boyd, Izzy Boyd, Ty Barlow, Keira Gallimore, Ava Barlow, Pryce Gallimore, Bree Barlow, Grey Gallimore, Jocelyn Bell, Camdon Bell, Jackson Stanulis, Lilyann Stanulis, and Cain Burk; two sisters: Zola Brewster of Sherman, TX and Geneva Koger of Puryear, TN; two brothers: Arlie Burk of Cookeville, TN and James Allen Burk of Round Lake, IL; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Besides his parents, Otis was also preceded in death by a great-grandchild, Asher Freimuth-Bingham; and three brothers: Floyd Burk, Ethol Burk, and Cleduith Burk. Pallbearers for Mr. Burk will be Glynn Gallimore, Tim Brannon, Johnny Alexander, Phillip Gallimore, Derek Bell, Joey Boyd, Jack Stanulis, and Cody Bumpus.
