Mr. Owen Baucum age 89 of Paris, Tennessee passed away on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at the Henry County Medical Center. His funeral service will be held at McEvoy Funeral Home, 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, March 29, 2017 with Bro. Thomas Winchester of Union Friendship Baptist Church and Bro. Bobby Campbell of Central Point Baptist Church officiating. Visitation is scheduled at McEvoy from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday and again after 9:00 A.M. on Wednesday.
Owen was born in Henry County on October 25, 1927 to Herbert Baucum and Ethel Owen Baucum, both preceded. He married Bobbie Elkins on April 5, 1947 and she survives in Paris. Mr. Baucum is also survived by his daughter: Margie (Alvin) Shankle of Paris; grandchild: Heather (Luther) Ray of Paris; great-grandchildren: Ashlynn Ray and Alyssa Ray; and by nieces, nephews and special friends. He is also preceded in death by his sister: Imogene Cooper; sister: Karen Baucum who died in infancy; brother: John "Mac" Baucum; and brother: Theron Baucum who died in infancy.
Mr. Baucum was a longtime member of Central Point Baptist Church. He farmed for many years in the New Boston Community. Owen loved horses, attending many horse sales and going on trail rides with his wife and friends. He was an avid gardener, enjoyed working in his garden and often grew extra that went to his family and friends. Owen always loved to visit and share stories about the good ole days.
