Phillip Wayne Johnson

Phillip Wayne Johnson, age 75, of Puryear, Tennessee, passed away on Sunday, August 30, 2026, at his residence. His body is to be cremated, and a celebration of life is to be held at a later date.

Phillip was born December 24, 1950, in Detroit, Michigan, to the late John W. Johnson and the late Ruby L Johnson. He married Juanita Shell Johnson on September 20, 1969, and she preceded him in death on June 29, 2016.

Phillip was a truck driver and thoroughly enjoyed the open road. Phillip enjoyed trucking, fishing, casinos, and rock and roll. He loved his wife Juanita deeply and enjoyed spending time with his family.

Phillip is survived by daughter Tabitha (Bill) Merrell of Puryear, Tennessee, and son, Jason Shell Johnson of Puryear, sisters Patty Thompson, Round Lake, Illinois, and Deborah Ridgeway of Paris; he is also survived by his grandchildren, David Moros and Liam Merrell of Puryear, Tennessee. He also leaves numerous nieces and nephews and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita Johnson; his father, John Johnson; his mother, Ruby Johnson; sisters Linda Schmitz and Wanda Carol Johnson; and brothers Roger Dale Johnson and Jimmy Johnson.
