Phyllis Jean Smith

Phyllis Jean Smith, age 92, of Springville, passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at her residence. Her celebration of life will be held later in Michigan.

Phyllis Jean Smith was born on December 17, 1933, in Jackson, MI, to the late Philip and Geneive Glover Ray. On June 10, 1950, she married Harvey F. Smith, and he preceded her in death on August 21, 2018.

Ms. Smith is survived by daughters: Jean (Al) Barone of Springville, TN and Cathy Carr of Clarklake, MI; sons: William (Tina) Smith of Jackson, MI and Phillip (Tami Tilden) Smith of Jackson, MI; sister, Nancy Wood of Napoleon, MI; sister-in-law, Geraldine Furman of Houston, TX; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Besides her parents and husband, Ms. Smith was also preceded in death by daughters: Vicki Davis and Wrayetta Harvel; sisters: Louise Ryan, Vesta Cook, Joyce Neer, and Beth Pinsky; and brothers: Dennis Ray and William Ray.
