Preston Edward Holmes, age 70 of Paris, Tennessee passed away on Monday, December 20, 2021, at his residence. His funeral service with full military honors will be 6:00 P.M. Monday, December 27, 2021, at McEvoy Funeral Home with his wife Christy and others officiating. Visitation is also scheduled on Monday after 4:00 P.M. until the time of service. Preston Holmes was born April 1, 1951, in Germany to the late Preston Holmes and the late Mary Emery Holmes. He married Christy Darlane Ward Holmes on June 7, 2012, and she survives in Paris. Preston is also survived by daughters, Paula Marie Holmes and Paige Nicole Holmes, both of Paris; son, Corey Holmes of Oklahoma and also survived by two other sons; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and other family members. Besides his parents, Preston is also preceded in death by a son who died in infancy and by an elder brother. Mr. Holmes was a Christian by faith. He was a U.S. Army veteran, who served during the Vietnam era, received the Purple Heart, and retired with the 101st Airborne after twenty years and one month of military service. Afterward, he went on to work for the U.S. Postal Service. Preston loved to participate in Civil War reenactments and traveled many places with his wife, Christy to do so. His unit was Company G, 7th Tennessee Cavalry Dismounted.
