Funeral service 2:00PM Friday at McEvoy Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Elkins, Bethesda United Methodist Church and Rev. Claude Smithmier, his brother-in-law, officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery. Selected as pallbearers are Paul Wall, Don Thompson, Tom Beasley, Harold Bass, Jr., Steve Jeffries and Dickie Bomar with Alex Herbison, Ross Wimberley and Eddie Krause as honorary pallbearers. Visitation 4:00 - 8:00PM Thursday and after noon Friday. He was born in Paris, TN to the late John James and Bennie Duluth Helms Roaten. Survived by his wife: Laurice Smithmier Roaten, Paris, they were married March 6, 1981; daughter: Gretchen (Daniel) Moncier, Gadsden, TN; son: John (Amber) Roaten, Puryear; sister-in-law: Dorothy McDaniel Sykes, Paris; grandchildren: Ava, Natalie and Lucas Moncier and Caleb Roaten; nieces: Karen Robertson, Paris, Stacy(Robert) Hudgins, Paris, Rachel(Brian) Ball, Paris. Preceded by three brothers: Nalon Roaten, James Simpson Roaten and Lester McDaniel. Ralph was a member of Bethesda United Methodist Church, member of the Springville Masonic Lodge and a lifetime member of the Henry County Rescue Squad. He retired from Henry County EMS, was an avid fisherman and a guide for Buchanan Resort.
