Ray Fortenberry, age 66 of Puryear passed away Saturday, March 11, 2017 at his residence. His funeral service will be Monday, March 13, 2017 at McEvoy Funeral Home with Carlton Gerrell of Tennessee Valley Community Church officiating. Burial will follow at Puryear City Cemetery. Visitation will be at McEvoy Funeral Home from 4:00-7:00 PM Sunday, March 12, 2017 and after 9:00 AM Monday until service time at 11:00 AM. Pallbearers will be Jamie, Walter, and Clint Kilpatrick; Tyler and Billy Williams; and Kelly Don Curd. Honorary Pallbearer will be Bennie Camper. Ray Fortenberry was born June 22, 1950 in Tylertown, Mississippi to the late Vance Fortenberry and the late Audrey Boyd Frazier. On October 9, 1987 he married Brenda Williams Fortenberry who survives in Puryear, Tennessee. Besides his wife, he is also survived by two daughters, Brandi (Michael) McDaniel of Mayfield, KY and Shana (Dustin) Davis of Alamo, TN; one son, Jason (Tashia) Hutson of Greenville, KY; one sister, Sylvia (Bobby) Gates of Bogue Chitto, MS; five grandchildren, Carrye and Ella McDaniel, Aaron and Aihsa Hutson, and William Davis; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. Besides his parents, Ray was also preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Fortenberry. Ray Fortenberry was a United States Army Veteran serving one tour in Vietnam.
