Retired teacher and lifetime resident of Henry County, Regina Presnell Whitfield, 82, died Monday, February 15, 2010 at Henry County Medical Center. Her husband was the late Dr. John H. Whitfield, a Paris chiropractor. Visitation will be Wednesday, February 17th from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at McEvoy Funeral Home and funeral services will be 10:00AM Thursday February 18th at McEvoy Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery. Rev. Pam Hughes, pastor of Lakeside Christian Fellowship, and Rev. Carlos Owens will officiate. She was born Oct. 9, 1927 in the old Dulac community of Henry County. Ms.Regina was the daughter of the late Robert Verner and Nelle Lashlee Presnell. She taught school in Henry County for 32 years., beginning in 1948. She primarily taught home economics. Her sister, the late Marjorie Presnell McCracken, was also a long time teacher in the Henry County School System. She was active in the local AARP chapter, the Gideons International, and Lakeside Christian Fellowship. She is survived by a stepson, John H. Whitfield, Jr. of Sarasota, Florida; a nephew, George R. (Lynn) Whitfield of Paris; a niece, Nita Whitfield of Cookeville; great nephews, Robert (Melony), John (Laura), and Cress (Mary Gardner) Whitfield, and local relatives Jean McKee and Carroll Lashlee. Memorials may be made to Lakeside Christian Fellowship or the Gideons International.
