Richard Collins, age 77 of Paris, TN passed away Saturday, July 9, 2016 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. His funeral service will be held at McEvoy Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. with Gary Collier officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Cemetery. Visitation for Mr. Collins will be at McEvoy Funeral home from 4:00 until 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday and after 9:00 A.M. Wednesday until service time at 11:00 A.M. Mr. Collins was born on February 15, 1939 to the late Richard D. Collins and Hazel Bandy Dinkins. On November 21, 1958 he was married to Maxine Wheatley who preceded on September 3, 2005. Richard is survived by daughters: Debbie (Tony) Hutcherson of Paris, TN, Peggy (Paul) Kellogg of Paris, TN and Teresa Collins of Franklin, TN; grandchildren: Sharlyn (Michael) McDaniel, John Richard (Alyssa) Eason, Justin (Cortney) Stutzman and Kayleigh Renee Hutcherson; great-grandchildren: John Michael Eason, Dylan Michael McDaniel and Abbey Grace Eason; sister: Peggy Jean Holley of LaGrange, KY; and niece: Geralda Holley Smith of Shelbyville, KY. He is preceded by his mother-in-law: Lizzie Mae Wheatley. Mr. Collins attended Cottage Grove School and was a member of Union Friendship Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran, worked for the city of Paris for 30 years, and retired as City Street Superintendent. Richard was the owner and operator of Collins Asphalt and Striping.
