Funeral service 11:00 AM Wednesday at McEvoy Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Roger Banks, VanDyke Church of Christ officiating, burial will follow at VanDyke Church of Christ Cemetery. Named as pallbearers are: Nathan Baker, Kevin Baker, Chuck Carter, Rusty Turner, Bill Hudson, Mack Allen; honorary pallbearers are: Ricky Turner and Joe N. Walker. Visitation 5:00 - 8:00 PM Tuesday and after 10:00 AM Wednesday until service time. He was born in Springville, TN to the late John Thomas and Willie D. Walters Carter. He married Jo Anne Manning Carter June 15, 1957, she survives, Paris, TN. Also survived by a daughter: Mary Anne (Terry) Wilkinson, Paris, TN; son: David (Denise) Carter, Paris, TN; sisters: Totsye Baker, Springville, TN, Nelda Faye (Bill) Turner, Springville, TN; sister-in-law: Pat Carter, Eva, TN; grandchildren: Kayla (James) Marrs, Justin Carter; great-grandchild: Carter Marrs. Preceded by a brother: W.T. Carter and a brother-in-law: Jeff Baker. Mr. Carter was a member of the VanDyke Church of Christ. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving from 1958 through 1960 and retired in 1995 after 39 years service as a lineman for AT&T phone company. Roy loved his family, gardening and mowing.
