Ruth Cate Hutcheson, age 101, passed away on Saturday at her residence in Paris. Her funeral service will be conducted by Dr. Fred Shackleford and Bro. Paul Veazey on Monday, April 16, 2012, 11:00 A.M. at McEvoy Funeral Home. Visitation is scheduled on Sunday, April 15, from 4:00 until 8:00 P.M. and again on Monday after 9:00 A.M.
Ruth leaves behind her daughter Linda Hutcheson; nephew, Jack E. Hamilton; niece, Diana (Gary) Clark and special family friend, Beverly Smothers. She is preceded in death by her parents, C.E. Cate and Lee Oma Veazey Cate; a daughter, Betty J. Bramlet; her sister, Mary Hamilton; two brothers, Lovelace and Ralph Cate.
Ruth was a graduate of Henry High School and attended Draughons Business College. She worked as secretary to the Commandant at Camp Tyson during WWII. She also worked as secretary for the ASCS Office in Paris and retired with 45 years of service as a Federal Employee. Ruth attended Springhill Baptist Church, loved camping with her daughter Linda, enjoyed quilting and word puzzles and was also well known to be an excellent cook.
