Ruth Van Patten, age 90, passed away Monday February 22, 2016 at her residence in Paris, TN. Funeral service 11:00AM Thursday, February 25, 2016 at McEvoy Funeral Home with Bro. Charles Cate officiating, burial will follow at Walker Cemetery. Visitation 4:00 - 8:00PM Wednesday February 24, 2016 and after 9:00AM Thursday until service time. She was born January 5, 1926 in Cottage Grove, TN to the late Isaac Denton and Sarah "Sallie" Gay Webb Pennington. On May 5, 1946 she married Jay Van Patten, he survives, Paris, TN. Survived by daughters: Cherylanne Van Patten, Paris, TN, Barbara (John) McDavid, Columbia, TN; grandchildren: Kim (Brian) Foster, Kelley (Jim) Fox, Michael (Tara) McDavid, Brian (Alisa) McDavid, Mark Horner, Brandy Horner, Katelyn Horner, Allie (Daniel) Brockwell; great-grandchildren: Nathan (Chelsea) Foster, Harrison Foster, Anna Fox, Landon Fox, Shelby Fox, Tessa (John) Evans, Micha McDavid, Brianna McDavid, Keirsten McDavid, John McDavid, Robert Daniel Brockwell, III; great-great-grandchild: Lily Evans; loving caregiver: Haley Robinson. Preceded by sisters: Patria Maddox, Ozella Hunt; brothers: Connie, Clifford, Pierce, Lewis, Curtis, Bill and John Pennington. Mrs. Van Patten was a long time member and secretary of East Wood Church of Christ. She also worked at the Mitchum Company formerly of Paris. A family member said Ruth was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
