Simon A. Yoder, age 86 of Paris passed away Saturday, July 7, 2018 at Towne Square Care of Puryear. His funeral service will be Thursday, July 12, 2018 at 10:00AM at Bethel Fellowship Church with Henry Nissley of Calvary Mennonite Church officiating. Burial will follow in New Boston Cemetery. Visitation will be at Bethel Fellowship Church on Wednesday from 2:00-4:00PM and again from 6:00-8:00PM. Pallbearers for Mr. Yoder will be Andrew Yoder, Austin Yoder, Sheldon Yoder, Arthur Nissley, Clyde Schrock, and Daniel Yoder.
Simon A. Yoder was born April 5, 1932 in Dover, Delaware to the late Alvin N. Yoder and the late Ida W. Byler Yoder. On October 16, 1952 he married Arlene S. Yoder and she preceded him in death on July 28, 2013.
Mr. Yoder is survived by three daughters: Pauline (Alvin) Schrock of Olney, IL, Martha (David) Wengerd of Litchfield, CA, and Viola (John) Nissley of Kenton, TN; seven sons: Alvin (Emma) Yoder of Lamar, MO, Norman (Dorothy) Yoder of Paris, TN, Elwood (Julia) Yoder of Russellville, KY, Elmer (Pauline) Yoder of Paris, TN, Everett (Elmina) Yoder of Paris, TN, Lyndon (Joann) Yoder of Bloomfield, MO, and Ralph (Janice) Yoder of Paris; a son-in-law, Jonas Schrock of Litchfield, CA; 79 grandchildren; 128 great grandchildren; two sisters: Martha Yoder of Costa Rica and Esther Troyer of Boyceville, WI; three brothers: Norman Yoder of Olney, IL, Earl Yoder of Whiteville, TN, and Paul Yoder of Belvidere, TN; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
Besides his parents and his wife, Mr. Yoder was also preceded in death by a daughter, Kathy Schrock; two grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two sisters: Mary Jane Mast and Ruth Helmuth; and a brother, Elmer Yoder.
Mr. Yoder was a member of Calvary Christian Fellowship Church and a former dairy farmer. He was also a former clerk at Yoder Bros. Meat Processing.
