Stephen Michael Mapes, age 40 of Chattanooga, formerly of Paris, passed away Saturday, January 21, 2017 at his residence. His funeral service will be at 3:00 PM Saturday, January 28, 2017 at McEvoy Funeral Home with Pastor Pamela Hughes of Lakeside Christian Fellowship officiating. Burial will follow at Antioch United Methodist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 PM Friday, January 27, 2017 and after 1:00 PM Saturday. Pallbearers will be Michael Roberts, Lindre Herbert, Harold Bagwell, Mark Matlick, Josh Knott, and Leland Jones. Honorary Pallbearers will be James Morrow, Jessica Mapes Morrow, and Mark Matlick. Stephen Michael Mapes was born September 9, 1976 in Murray, Kentucky to Wesley Mapes and Jeanie Matlick Mapes, both of Springville, Tennessee. Besides his parents, he is also survived by a daughter, Nytalia Mapes of Zionsville, Indiana; one sister, Jessica (James) Morrow of Bandana, Kentucky; one maternal grandparent, Mary Ellen Wright of Atlanta, GA; one aunt, Susan Matlick of Atlanta, GA; and five uncles, Mark Matlick of Oakland, TN, Robert Mapes of Buchanan, TN, Robert Wright of Atlanta, GA, Ron Wright of Lavonia, GA, and Mark Anthony (Candace) Wright of LaPort, IN.
