Ms. Sue Gail Evans Carlton, age 80 of Puryear, Tennessee passed away on Thursday, December 14, 2023 at her residence. Her funeral service will be 2:00 P.M. Friday, December 15, 2023 at McEvoy Funeral Home and conducted by Tony Stepp. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery. Named as pallbearers are David Laws, Ryan Laws, Stephen Gafford, Alan Presson, Brian Carlton, Will Carlton, and Walker Carlton; honorary pallbearers, Shawn Gafford and her great grandchildren. Sue Gail Evans Carlton was born October 15, 1943 in Paris, Tennessee to the late Porter Lee Evans, Sr. and the late Maybelle Burcham Evans. She married David Carlton on July 3, 1978 and he preceded her in death February 13, 1994. She is survived by daughter, Kim (Eugene) Gafford of Springville; sons, David (Lisa) Laws, Jr. of Paris, Mike Carlton of Paris, and Ron Carlton of Puryear; grandchildren, Denise (Danny) Giesler, David (Kristin) Laws, Ryan Laws, Stephen (Amanda) Gafford, Alan (Victoria) Presson, Shawn Gafford, Brian Carlton, Will Carlton, Walker Carlton and Daniel (Jasmine) Bowden; great-grandchildren, Lindsey Coumbe, Maddie Coumbe, Natalee Laws, Brody Laws, Levi Rabey, Addison Gafford, Chase Gafford, Jasper Giesler, Axel Giesler, Cam Giesler, Bentley Bowden and Hope Bowden; brothers, Lynn (Pam) Evans of McKenzie and Jessie (Brenda) Evans of Puryear; son-in-law, Ronnie Presson of Paris; sister-in-law, Janice Evans of Paris; also by nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. Besides her parents and husband, Sue is also preceded in death by her daughter, Angela Laws Presson, sister, Sarah Mustin, and brothers, Porter Lee Evans Jr. and R.C. Evans and daughter-in-law, Michelle York. Ms. Carlton was a Presbyterian by faith who enjoyed reading her Bible.
