Funeral service 2:00PM Sunday at McEvoy Funeral Home with Bro. John Dale of the Glendale Road Church of Christ and Bro. Victor Eskew of the East Wood Street Church of Christ officiating, burial will follow at Puryear City Cemetery.

She was born in Murfreesboro, TN to the late Joseph Franklin and Mary Lynn Arnold. April, 1946 she married Dudley P. Hays, he preceded December 26, 2011.
Survived by daughters: Aleda (David) Rickelton, Jr., Greensboro, NC, Debi Hays, Laredo, TX; grandchildren: David Kendall (Angela) Rickelton, Jr., Greensboro, NC, Patrick Hays (Erin) Rickelton, Nashville, Jennie Lynn (Adam) Alberson, Greensboro, NC; great-grandchildren: Ava, Jackson, Ethan, Silas and Isla Rickelton and Haleigh Alberson.
Mrs. Hays was a long time member of East Wood Street Church of Christ in Paris. She served on annual Vacation Bible School committees and taught Bible classes for children. She taught piano lessons in her home as well as at Puryear and Henry schools. She was a member of the Matinee Music Club. She was a long time member of the Quota Club and served as secretary of the local chapter.
Since the death of her spouse of 65 years she has lived in North Carolina with her daughter Aleda and son-in-law David Rickelton surrounded by her loving family. She was featured in an issue of the Forsyth Woman magazine as a participant in a ground breaking medical research program for non-invasive aortic valve replacement. Because of the success of this procedure, Mrs. Hays made her first trip to New York City at age 89 as was interviewed by a member of NBCs Today show. She was even able to return to NYC to see local actress Cherry Jones in The Glass Menagerie.
