Verne D. Bendorf, age 79 of Puryear, Tennessee passed away on Tuesday, November 17, 2020 at The Farms in Puryear. His body is to be cremated and a celebration of life will be planned for a later date. Verne was born May 7, 1941 in Williamsburg, Iowa to the late Julius Henry Bendorf and the late Anna Marie Klienmeyer Bendorf. He marrried Rita Roberts Bendorf in March of 1986 and she survives in Puryear. He is also survived by daughters, Linda Reilly and Debbie Akers, both of Memphis, Tennessee; son, Jeff (Darryn) Bendorf of Millington, TN; grandchildren, Bryan and April Akers, and Jacob Bendorf; eight great-grandchildren; and one sister Judy Lawson of Iowa. Besides his parents, Verne is also preceded in death by several sisters and brothers. Mr. Bendorf was a U.S. Navy Veteran, retiring with 20 years of service. After retiring from the Navy he worked for FedEx from which he also retired. Verne enjoyed fishing, loved his dogs and gardening. He attended Grace Episcopal Church in Paris. Verne also enjoyed traveling, spending time with his wife and family and with his animals.
