After returning from the Marines, he married his secretary, the late Virginia Jo Wall (formerly Hurdle) on August 17, 1952 at First Baptist Church in Paris. At Holley he was quickly promoted to production control superintendent, a position he held for decades. He then transferred to Holleys Bowling Green Ky. plant following the closure of the Paris plant until he retired in 1988. After a brief retirement, Virgil was appointed executive director of the Paris-Henry County Chamber of Commerce, serving in that capacity until 1994. Wall was named Chamber of Commerce "Person of the Year" in 1995 for his service to Paris and Henry County. In 2007 he was inducted into the Henry County Sports Hall of Fame for his lifelong contributions to local sports, including working as a TSSAA basketball and football official for more than 30 years.
