Virginia Wright Burton, age 95, of Puryear, Tennessee passed away on Tuesday, January 29, 2019 at Paris Healthcare Center. Her funeral service will be 12:00 P.M. Saturday, February 2, 2019 at McEvoy Funeral Home with Bro. Mike Rhodes to officiate, and burial to follow in Puryear City Cemetery. Named as pallbearers are: Tim Brown, Tony Brown, Tyler Brown, Casey Mounts, Danny Spies, and Larry Wilson; honorary pallbearers: Emily Brown, Alyssa Brown, Caitlin Brown, Mikali Mounts, Amanda Dubois, Jeff Burton and Tina Burton. Visitation is scheduled after 10:00 A.M. Saturday until time of service. Virginia Burton was born December 5, 1923 in Jasper, Alabama to the late Floyd Monroe Wright and the late Mary Lois Anderson Wright. She married J.T. Burton on January 16, 1941 and he preceded her in death on May 19, 2013. Virginia is survived by her daughter: Jan (Johnny) Brown of Paris, daughter in law: Tommie Burton of Puryear, sister: Lucille Howze of Atlanta, and four grandchildren. Besides her parents and husband, Virginia is also preceded by her son: James T. "Terry" Burton, sisters: Ruth Huey and Marie Donnelly, brother: Charles Ray Wright who died in infancy, and one great grandchild. Ms. Burton was a longtime member of Puryear Baptist Church and was an avid Alabama football fan.
