Funeral service 2:00PM Tuesday at McEvoy Funeral Home with Bro. Randy Stephens and U.S. Army Honor Guard rendering graveside Military Honors at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
The U.S. Army Honor Guard will serve as pallbearers. Grandsons: Justin Phillips, Dylan Phillips, Phillip Stewart, Max Chau, Taylor Beseda, Patrick Beseda; brothers-in-law and friends: Jerry Culpepper, Pete Bucy, Gary Gennuso, Charles Melton and Harry Brown will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Visitation after 11:00 Tuesday until service time.
He was born in Henry County to the late Verner Viven "V.V." and Hettie Olive Wood Phillips.
Survived by his wife: Gloria Culpepper Phillips, Paris; daughters: Joan Phillips Stewart, Houston, TX, Teresa (Dave) McCuiston, Lexington, TN, Patricia (Jim) Beseda, Denver, CO; sons: Randy (Ruth) Phillips, Jackson, TN, David "Mo" (Barbie) Phillips, Bon Aqua, TN, Barry (Helen) Phillips (LCDR, USN, ret.), Monterey, CA, Clay (fiance Deborah) Phillips, Hendersonville TN; sister: Vernell Stout, Paris, TN; brothers: Joseph Phillips, Brooklyn, MI, Garry Lee Phillips, Sr. (YNCS, USN, ret.), Como, TN; grandchildren: eleven; great-grandchildren: ten.
Preceded by sisters: Violet Carter, Laura Brown; brothers: Clinton E. Phillips and James Phillips.
Mr. Phillips was a Veteran of US Navy Seabees and US Army, Field Artillery (1SG,ret.), of 24 years, serving in WWII, the Korean War and Vietnam. He was a lifetime member of Disabled American Veterans.
