Wanda Manwaring Shaffer, age 98 of Paris, Tennessee passed away peacefully at AHC - Paris on Monday, December 19, 2022. Her funeral service will be 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at McEvoy Funeral Home with Bro. Ben Whitmire of Maplewood Baptist Church to officiate. Burial will follow the service in Rose Hill Cemetery in Pulaski, Illinois with a committal at 2:00 P.M. Named as pallbearers are Robert "Bob" Manwaring, Joshua Shaffer, Kyle Shaffer, Matthew Lawson, Brandon Holtfreter and Steve Clendenin.
Visitation is scheduled at McEvoy Funeral Home on Monday, December 26, 2022 from 4:00 until 7:00 P.M. and again on Tuesday after 9:00 A.M. until time of service.
Wanda Viola Bertha Manwaring Shaffer was born January 17, 1924 in Norfolk, Virginia to the late Arthur Manwaring and the late Bertha Rives Manwaring. She married Howard Shaffer on September 8, 1942 and he preceded her in death on January 3, 1990. Wanda is survived by her son, David Kevin Shaffer of Paris; grandchildren, Joshua Shaffer, Kyle Shaffer and his wife Jessica, Jennifer Lawson and her husband Matthew, Kathryn Holtfreter and her husband Brandon, and Katie Jo Shaffer; great grandchildren, Natalie Shaffer, Nathan Shaffer, Noah Holtfreter, Jonah Holtfreter, Benjamin Lawson, Julian Lawson, Finnley Shaffer and Hayes Shaffer; daughter in law, Cindy Shaffer of Lebanon, Tennessee; nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
Besides her parents and husband, Wanda is also preceded in death by her son, Howard Stephen Shaffer; brother, Arthur Manwaring and his wife, Dorothy.
Mrs. Shaffer was a longtime member of Maplewood Baptist Church, where she was active in WMU and worked in the nursery. Wanda also worked for the election commission in Paris.
