Funeral services for Mr. William M. Gerhardt, age 98, of Paris, TN will be conducted on Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at Oak Grove Baptist Church, Henry County, TN, at 2:00 P.M. with burial to follow in the Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Military Honors. Visitation will be on Tuesday, October 12, 2010 at McEvoy Funeral Home from 4:00-8:00 P.M. and after 11:00 A.M. at the church until service time.
Mr. Gerhardt is survived by wife Margaret Buttrey Gerhardt they were married on April 6, 1988.
He is also survived by daughters; Mary Mitzi Gerhardt McConachie, San Diego, CA, step daughter; Mary Kay (Ray) Watson, Henry, TN, sons; William M. Gerhardt Jr., Paris, TN, Michael W. Gerhardt, Maryville, TN, sister; Edna May Haldeman, Titusville, FL, grandchildren; Jina McConachie, Brandy Gerhardt, Tracy Gerhardt Mertin, Bruce Gerhardt. He is also survived by five great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Gerhardt is preceded by parents; Michael Gerhardt and Edith Brandt Gerhardt, wife; Dorothy Jean Gedultig Gerhardt, daughter; Edith Gerhardt, son; John Ross Gerhardt, and sister, Dorothy Mess.
Mr. Gerhardt served in the U.S. Army in WWII with the 36th Division, 1st Lt. Field Artillery. He was a recipient of three Purple Hearts and four Bronze Stars with Valor, a member of the Purple Heart Association, DAV, VFW Post 1889 and 36th Infantry Division Life Member. Mr. Gerhardt was also a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, supporter of the Oakland Volunteer Fire Department, and owner operator of White River Caf and Hawaiian Luau Restaurants in Branson, MO.
