William Lucian Smith

Funeral services for Mr. William Lucian Smith, age 83, of Mansfield, TN, will be conducted on Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation for Mr. Smith will be Monday evening at McEvoy Funeral Home from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and again on Tuesday at the church after 10:00 A.M. Mr. Smith is survived by his wife of 55 years Crystel Alexander Smith. They were married on October 24, 1954. Mr. Smith is also survived by daughters; Jane Triplett, Puryear , TN, Suzanna (Rickey) Paschall, Tucson, AZ, son; Randall Keith Smith, Mansfield, TN, sisters; Ann (James) Mathis, Paris, TN, Diana (Edward) Clement, Jackson, TN, Barbara (Lemuel) Muzzall, Paris, TN, Marilyn Townsend, Paris, TN, grandchildren; Brian Keith Triplett, Joanna Ruth Paschall, Jennifer Paschall, Kevin Paschall and four Great grandchildren he is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Mr. Smith is preceded by parents; Jonnie and Juliet Doty Smith, brothers; John Thomas Smith, and John Everett Smith who preceded in infancy. Mr. Smith had been a member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church since he was 16 years old and had played piano at the church for 56 ears and had also served as a Sunday School Teacher. An Army Veteran of WWII Lucian had served as Chaplins Assistant and an organist Lucian later joined the Tennessee National Guard and retired as Captain with over 20 years of service. Mr. Smith was a member of the VFW and DAV and had served for 19 years as Veterans Service Officer for Henry County.
