Winnie Kennon Perkins, age 97, of Paris, Tennessee passed away Sunday, February 28, 2021 at AHC of Paris. Her funeral service will be held graveside at Palestine Cemetery on Thursday, March 4, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Tom Smith officiating and burial to follow the service. Named as pallbearers are Jamie Perkins, Pistol Luke Perkins, George Campbell and Jerry Kennon; honorary pallbearers are David Travis, George Whitfield, Tommy Harding, Phillip McMackin and many loving nieces and nephews. Winnie Kennon Perkins was born October 6, 1923 in the Palestine Community of Paris, Henry County, Tennessee to the late Wade Hampton Kennon and the late Minnie Tomlin Kennon. She married William H. "Bill" Perkins on September 15, 1945 and he preceded her in death on June 25, 2002. She is survived by her sons, William Henry Perkins, Jr. and husband, Gregory E. Clark and James David Perkins and wife, Fredda L. Perkins all of Paris; grandchildren, James David "Jamie" Perkins, Jr. and Noel Lynn Perkins; great-grandchildren, Pistol Luke Perkins and Aspen Kay Breaux. Besides her parents and husband, Winnie is also preceded in death by her two sisters, Edna Kennon and Lois Kennon; and four brothers, John L. Kennon, Alan Kennon, Wade H. Kennon and William R. Kennon. Winnie Kennon Perkins was a native daughter of Paris and the Palestine Community. Growing up on the Kennon farm in Palestine Winnie developed a core sense of personal pride and honor in a job well done. These character traits paved her way through Robert E. Lee Elementary, Atkins-Porter and Grove High schools. Miss Winnie was well known for her reliability and attention to detail during her 38 year career as a professional legal secretary. Her community service included founding member and President of the Professional Secretarys Association, Order of Eastern Star (for over 70 years), Quota Club and the Palestine Community Club. She was a lifelong member of Palestine United Methodist Church. She was Miss Winnie to the business community, Aunt Winnie to her extended family, but Mother and Wife were her favorite areas of expertise. She was Bill Perkins partner in love and life helping build a successful business. She provided guidance for her sons earning an education, rising to the rank of Eagle Scout and later to proud careers of their own. She dearly loved her grandchildren. Winnie Perkins did not strive for the limelight. She did, however, believe in goodness for goodness sake and providing guidance by example. As a determined child of the Great Depression she graced our lives with the strength of a matriarch and compassion of a saint. We love and miss you. Visitation will be at McEvoy Funeral Home on Thursday, March 4, 2021 from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. prior to the graveside service at 2:00 P.M.
